Introducing the Hosting Cluster
MD has engineered a solution to tackle all types of failures.Websites on MD are not hosted on one single server, but rather on a 'Hosting Cluster'. Resource requests are dynamically distributed across the entire resource pool - if a resource becomes overwhelmed then work is transferred in real time to spare resources, all while the website is running.
That is not all - if a server unexpectedly goes offline (for example, due to hardware breaking) then the cluster will immediately kick into action and start websites on spare resources.
All customer data is stored on enterprise-grade "self-healing" storage arrays, which can recover from several simultaneous drive failures in real time without performance degradation.
High Availability hosting is a feature unique to MD, and allows small businesses to enjoy the same stability typically only seen at large multinationals.
Network Redundancy
Network connectivity is of course a critical component of hosting - if the network is down then no-one can access your site. MD has built redundancy into the very core of its production network. We have diverse bandwidth paths to Pacnet/AsiaNetCom and Pipe Networks. These connections are fed into two Cisco routers, which in turn are filtered by two failover clustered Cisco firewalls, and finally to diverse switches which drive traffic to the hosting cluster.
Backup Technology
Data integrity and security is a hot topic. Losing important data (whether accidental or otherwise) can be devastating. MD has installed a unique backup array, capable of storing vast amounts of data for thousands of customers. Whats more, backups are made daily to ensure that data is always relevant and timely. You can be confident that your data is protected when you host with MD.*
