Mac OS X Mail
From MDSupportWiki
The Mac Mail application is located in the applications folder of your hard drive and can also be started from your Dock. The icon looks like a postage stamp.
1. Go to the "Mail" menu and select "Preferences"
2. On the Accounts option, select "Add Account"
* On the Account Information tab, select "POP" from the Account Type menu
* Add a description for your account
* Enter the email address
* In the Full Name field, put the name you would like people you send email to see
* For "Incoming mail server", type:
yourdomain.com (once DNS propagation is complete)
your server ip address(until DNS propagation)
To determine which server you are hosted on, on the home page in your account control interface, there is a heading "Hosted on:". This will indicate the server where your files/mail are stored
* In the User name field, type the email address for this account
* Then type in the password associated with this email account
3. Click on the dropdown menu for for "Outgoing server" and select "New server"
* Enter:
yourdomain.com (if you isp does not block port 20)
your_isp_outgoingmailserver.com(if you have errors sending mail using your domain)
4. Click OK to close that window and OK again to save the Accounts settings
5. For spam protection we use a function called "POP before SMTP". Whenever you log in for POP3 mail, the server notes the IP address from which the connection was made and permits to send messages from the IP for a limited time. This simply means: first check for new mail before sending.
