Note: We do not accept domains for transfer after it has expired or is likely to expire during the
transfer process, because the domain will not transfer successfully.

When a domain expires there are 4 different "stages" as explained below:

  1. Grace Period - during this time you have 29 days to renew your domain after it has expired, then the domain is deleted from being used in your account. After this time the domain 'moves' into the Verisgn Global Registry.
  2. Redemption period - is 30 days AFTER the grace period. During this time only the domain owner can recover the domain, however, there can be between a $US160-$200 recovery fee plus the domain registration fee to recover the domain from Verisign registry, NeuLevel or {PIR[public interest registry] for .org.}. These recovery costs may also vary over time. MD reserves the right to pass on the costs to the client to recover the domain during this period and gives no guarantee a recovery will be successful.
  3. Pending delete - is a 5 day period AFTER the redemption period. NO-ONE during this period can do anything with this domain (it is 30 days pending delete period for .org).
  4. Domain then comes up for sale to anyone after the 5 day pending delete period. At this stage its first in, best dressed!
