Expired .au domains
From MDSupportWiki
When a domain name is not renewed on or before the expiry date:
- a) domain name is removed from the DNS (ie. no longer works on the Internet);
- b) domain name enters “serverUpdateProhibited” and “serverHold” status for 30 calendar days;
- c) domain name can be renewed during the 30 calendar day period;
- d) after 30 calendar days, domain name is purged from the registry at a random time between 10.30am and 5.00pm AEST (or 11.30am and 6.00pm AEDT) on the next business day.
After a domain name is purged, it becomes available for anyone else to register on a first come, first serve basis.
