Locking or Unlocking my Domain Name
Solution Domain locking is optional for gTLD domain names to prevent unauthorised transfer of domain registrations (hijacking). Since domain transfer requires the domain EPP password (a.k.a. Auth Code, Auth Info), the additional locking of the domain is not required, however all domains are automatically locked when registered with Netregistry to provide extra security to those concerned regarding possible hijacking of their names.

Domain registrants are required to Unlock their domains when submitting transfers to other providers. Below are instructions on accessing the domain locking mechanism within our admin panels:

1.    Login to your console at http://manage.mdwebhosting.com.au/
2.    Click to administer the domain name in question
3.    Click "Domain Name" icon to access the registry database
4.    Click to lock or unlock your domain as required

Common questions:

When I click "Domain Name" icon, I get an error
The domain could be de-registered or registered with another provider. Please check Whois of your domain to verify where it's registered, and contact the provider to view the password.

When I click "Domain Name" icon, I see the page, but I don't see an option to view the domain password

Your domain name may be registered via ENOM or Distribute IT. At one stage MD WebHosting used to register domains via those providers, until we got our own accreditation as Registrars. Please request the domain password to be emailed to you by contacting the Domains team (submit a ticket to their team, or email domains@mdwebhosting.com.au ).
